What Is Youth Apprenticeship
The Youth Apprenticeship program is part of a statewide school-to-work initiative designed specifically for high school students that integrates academic and technical instruction with paid, mentored work experience at a local jobsite.

Who Is Eligible
High school juniors and seniors that meet certain criteria are eligible to participate.

How Do Students Apply
High school students have the opportunity to attend an information night at BTC in February during their Sophomore or Junior year. Students submit an application to their YA school-based coordinator in the spring prior to the year they would like to participate.

What Is Required
Students can choose between a one-year and a two-year program. For each year of involvement, students must take two semesters of related, technical instruction at their home high school or through Blackhawk Technical College. Students must also work 450 hours under the guidance of a skilled mentor.
