BTC to host Clinical Instructor Workshop

On September 18, Blackhawk Technical College’s (BTC) Physical Therapy Assistant program wants to give something back to the industry it helps support by hosting its annual Clinical Instructor Workshop from 1 to 6 p.m. at the central campus.

Expected to draw 50-60 alumni, therapists, therapist assistants and like-minded rehab professionals from the region, this FREE workshop will include updates from BTC’s health science programs and an opportunity to earn continuing education credits (CEUs) by attending a presentation by  pain management expert, Mary Beth Geiser, PT, DPT, OCT, FAAOMPT.

A 20-year veteran of teaching graduate level physical therapy coursework, Geiser’s presentation, entitled “All Aboard! The Pain Is Leaving  Find Out Where We Are Going”, will focus on pain management, spinal manipulation, orthopedics and exercise physiology.

“This is a great way for the college to give something back to the PTA community,” said Program Coordinator, Illene Larson.  “We work so closely with many parts of the health care industry in Rock and Green counties.  It’s nice that we can host a professional development event that benefits so many people.”

According to Larson, representatives from the Monroe Clinic, SSM Dean Health Systems, Beloit Health Systems and the Central Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled are just a few the health care facilities or agencies expected to be in attendance.

In addition to the program updates and presentation by Mary Beth Geiser, dinner will also be provided to all attendees.  To find out more about the BTC Clinical Instructor Workshop, contact Illene Larson at 608-757-7698 or ilarson@blackhawk.edu
