What began as a one-class service project in November at Blackhawk Technical College morphed into a
school-wide campaign that raised more than $1,700 for relief of typhoon victims in the Philippines.
Instructor Rubina Jan’s general education psychology class was assigned a learning project regarding disaster relief that included seven requirements to be graded. But what started in one classroom went school wide when BTC student organizations joined in the fundraiser for the American Red Cross.
The money raised was reported, recorded and
turned over to Stephanie Williams, BTC’s Student Life Coordinator. Williams will be delivering the check to the local Red Cross this month.
