Monroe to host Employability Skills Conference

Blackhawk Technical College’s Monroe campus will play host Saturday, May 4 to an Employability Skills Conference for all BTC students, alumni, high school students and the general public who may be interested in refining techniques in finding, landing and keeping a good job.

The conference, which will be held at the Monroe Campus, 210 4th Ave., includes five sections, starting with an 8:45 a.m. presentation called “It Doesn’t Take a Title to be a Leader.’’

There is no cost to attend. Those interested are asked to contact the Monroe campus front desk at 608-328-1660 or the BTC website at www.blackhawk.edu/monroe  to register.

The keynote address will be presented at 12:45 p.m. by Dija Decock, a former fashion model now working for Counsel Image Consults of Madison. She will discuss the importance of first impressions and how an appropriate workplace wardrobe can influence success on the job.

Sessions covering how to find a job, how to land a job and how to keep a job will run concurrently following the opening presentation. These presentations begin at 9:45 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., respectively.

Registration runs from 8-8:30 a.m. in the main lobby on the west side of campus. Please enter near the flag poles.
