Craig High School will add a Blackhawk Technical College graduate to its honor wall.
Jill Henderson, Craig Class of 1989, got her nursing degree in 1996 from BTC and has worked at St. Elizabeth’s Nursing Home in Janesville. The life-long philanthropist was honored for her charitable work along with two other former Craig High School students.
Known as someone who always wanted to help out those in need, Henderson's list of accomplishments included a trip to Cité Soleil, Haiti, where she spent some time helping citizens out after the devastating earthquake in 2010. Henderson traveled with the Samaritan’s Purse organization to assist victims who had malaria, typhoid and HIV, among other illnesses. In addition, she also educated Haitians about practices to control cholera and she worked very hard to generate donations to purchase medications, clothing, laptops, books and more for children at three orphanages.
In the United States, Henderson has facilitated Alzheimer’s support groups and participated in supply drives for Hurricane Katrina victims, clothing drives for Hurricane Sandy victims, and an annual Christmas delivery for the Madison AIDS Support Network.
Henderson is a member of Rep. Paul Ryan’s Health Care Advisory Board and now works for St. Jude Hospice. Along with BTC and Craig High School, she attended Janesville’s Adams Elementary School and Marshall Middle School.
