Education is a foundation for a lifetime of success. District Mutual Insurance agrees, which is why they recently donated $160,000 to the 16 schools in the Wisconsin Technical College System. Blackhawk Technical College will receive $10,000 in unrestricted funds from the DMI gift. The money will go toward the BTC Foundation.
DMI was established in 2004 to provide a variety of commercial insurance plans to meet the specific needs of the Wisconsin Technical College System schools.
“This donation commemorates our 10th year of operations and also serves as a tangible benefit of being a member of DMI,’’ said Steven Stoeger-Moore, the executive vice-president and chief operating officer of DMI. “DMI always has fostered an environment of cooperation and collaboration among the (WTCS schools), and this donation clearly illustrates how well that philosophy is serving our members.’’
According to BTC Foundation Director, Kelli Cameron, the Foundation board will determine how the 10K will be used..
“We're so appreciative of the generous gift provided by DMI,’’ said Kelli Cameron, Director of the BTC Foundation and Alumni Association. “This gift allows us the flexibility to use the funds for the greatest needs of our students and school. It is indicative of the wonderful working relationship we have with DMI.’’
The Blackhawk Technical College Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that receives, holds, and disburses funds for the betterment of the college and its students. The BTC Foundation is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Since 1978, over 3,200 individuals have achieved their educational goals thanks, in part, to Foundation scholarships. This year alone, the BTC Foundation will award over 100 student scholarships.
