Emergency Phone Numbers
BTC will utilize the local community's law enforcement, fire protection agency and EMT/paramedic services as the primary provider of emergency services to all facilities. Emergency personnel can be contacted from any BTC facility by dialing 911 from a pay phone, 9-911 from a BTC phone, or by using the red emergency phones on the Central Campus. Remember depending on the campus it may be necessary to dial "9" first to get an outside line.
When calling 911 or 9-911 directly, always send someone to the information desk to direct emergency personnel. The person going to the information desk should be able to calmly explain the nature and location of the emergency. This person should also be familiar with the facility so they may guide emergency responders back to the location of the incident.
Red Emergency Phones on the Central Campus
On the Central Campus, red emergency phones are located throughout the campus in the hallways. These phones connect directly to the switchboard by picking up the receiver (NO DIALING NECESSARY). The telephone system automatically informs the switchboard operator of the location of the emergency phone used from 7:30 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. The switchboard operator will call 911 to summon emergency assistance. On weekends and after 9:00 P.M. during the week days the call goes to the 911 dispatch center. You will then need to identify what door you are close to using the map next to the red phone. Explain the nature of the emergency calmly and concisely.
