Teaching Learning Center Mission

Assist faculty in learning and adopting technology for use in the classroom.

Staff hours are 8:30AM to 4:30PM M-F

The TLC specialist coordinates a broad range of services for full and part-time faculty to promote teaching excellence.

Blackboard Support

Training on Blackboard Basics for version 9.1 is available by appointment or by group training. Sessions are listed on the Master Training Calendar (See TLC Intranet site) . For Blackboard support check out the Instructor and Student Blackboard Support Sites or contact the online Blackboard Help Desk.

Office 2007 and 2010 Support

Training on Office 2007 and 2010 is available by appointment or by group training session. Support for Word, Excel and PowerPoint is available. See the Master Training Calendar (See TLC Intranet site) for workshop offerings.

Just in time training is offered in the TLC. Call (608) 757-7632 or email Cynthia Delcourt, the Teaching Learning Specialist, to make an appointment.

Just in Time Assistance 

Individual support is offered on all aspects of instructional design, from curriculum and syllabus creation through classroom presentation.

Workshops and Seminars

  • Tutorials and workshops on computer topics related to online teaching and classroom technology
  • Special presentations and workshops by TLC faculty and invited speakers, on topics related to faculty development (teaching, learning, technology, assessment, and curriculum).

WIDS

BTC has moved to the new web-based version of WIDS. WIDS (Worldwide Instructional Design System) is a web-based curriculum management system grounded in the principles of performance-based learning. Blackhawk Technical College has adopted WIDS as the system for creating and storing course and program curriculum.

Equipment Checkout

The TLC has a number of digital cameras, camcorders, laptops, and Kindles for use in creating educational materials. These items are available for short term checkout .
