Annual FERPA Notification
The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students certain rights with rights with respect to their education records. They are:
- The right to inspect and review the student’s education records
- The right to request the amendment of the student’s education records that the student believes are inaccurate or misleading.
- The right to consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in the student’s education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.
- The right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged failures by Blackhawk Technical College to comply with the requirements of FERPA. The name and address of the Office that administers FERPA is:

BTC, under most circumstances, will not release information in your file without your written consent (Release of Student Records), complete this form in its entirety). However, the Blackhawk Technical College Board has designated the following information as directory information and therefore can be released without your written consent:
your name, address, BTC assigned student e-mail address, telephone number, date and place of birth, major field of study, dates enrolled, credit load, credits earned toward a degree/diploma, most recent prior school attended, degree/diploma, honors/awards and dates received, and participation in activities.
