The SAFE Alert system is a state of the art program designed to disseminate emergency messages to all Blackhawk Technical College students, faculty and staff. This service delivers messages by text, phone or email to you anytime there is an emergency that poses a safety concern for the BTC community.
What types of messages are considered emergency messages?
Emergencies are considered any event that poses a safety risk to the campus community. For example, the most common use of SAFE Alert will be to communicate when the college is closed due to inclement weather. Other types of emergencies may include unexpected occurrences such a tornado or power outages, or any unexpected event that poses danger or puts your safety at risk.
How do I subscribe?
All BTC student, faculty and staff emails have been automatically registered in the SAFE Alert system. To customize your communications (i.e. add landline or cell phone, text), go to MyBTC.Blackhawk.edu and Click the Safe Alert button .
Will I get SPAM or other campus announcements by participating?
No, never. We respect your privacy and you will never receive anything except for official BTC emergency communications.
Is there a charge for the service?
SAFE Alerts is a free service to all students, faculty and staff. However, you are responsible for paying all messaging charges associated with your wireless carrier plan.
What if my cell phone number or email changes?
If you change your mobile number or email, simply access the system via MyBTC and update your contact details. If you’ve changed providers, but your number hasn’t changed, you may want to update your carrier information in your subscription settings as well.
