Challenge Course
Ed-Venture Low Elements
Using wooden beams, ropes, and cables
strung among poles, teams explore risk taking, leadership,
communication, problem-solving and coaching during this
adventure, with a focus on collaboration.
The low Ed-venture elements are close to the
ground so the perceived risk is low, but are still challenging
to complete. Participants walk tightropes, negotiate obstacles,
and pass teammates through a giant web. Participants gradually
expand their comfort zones (sometimes dramatically) and
recognize fears that may block personal and professional
achievement. Each challenge draws upon team members to actively
support each other.
Our challenge by choice philosophy enables
every participant to experience their own success in the context
of their own aspirations.
Mohawk
Walk
This element has a number of tightly strung cables between
poles, close to ground level. Participants attempt to traverse
the horizontal wire and stay off the ground. They are allowed
to use each other for support. It has elements that encourage
team support, problem solving and effective communication as
well as developing balance, coordination and agility.
Multi
Vine Traverse
Consists of a single, tension foot cable with a series of
multi vine ropes suspended from an overhead cable, positioned
just beyond an average person's reach. The objective is to walk
across the cable using various support vines for aid.
T.P.
(Telephone Pole) Shuffle
The group is arranged in a sequential line on a horizontal
pole and must accomplish a task without stepping off. This
event is a good icebreaker activity that allows a group to
laugh, relax, and feel more comfortable helping each other and
accepting help from others.
Wild
Woosey
The object is for two participants, each standing on a
separate cable, to maintain physical contact with one another
and move from the apex of the traverse to the far end.
Spider
Web
A number of ropes are strung to resemble a web. The
objective is to move the entire group through the web openings
so that each person goes through a distinct opening without
touching the web. If a person is successful, that opening
conceptually closes for the remainder of the event. If anyone
touches the web during an attempt, the person being passed
through must return and try again through the same opening.
Trust
Fall
The participant climbs to the top of a low ladder, wall or
platform, and fall backwards into the raised arms of their
team. Before being lowered to the ground, they experience the
cradling support of their team.
