IT Help Desk Support

ITS provides students with Help Desk support for login issues, campus computer issues, and password resets. The Help Desk is located in room 2409 next to the library. Support Hours  

Blackhawk Technical College Online Support Center

Welcome to our Online Support Center! Here, you can browse helpful guides and material and contact the support team directly - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! You may chat live with a support team member, submit a ticket with your issue or concern, or call directly, toll-free.  Start with one click!

Wireless Access 

ITS provides free wireless access to students with laptops. Simply enter your network login to access the wireless network.

Network Login/Password  - This link will take you to the Password Reset tool.

 Blackboard Password Change Request - This link will take you to the Blackboard Password Reset request tool.

 WebMail - This link will take you to Blackhawk's WebMail login page. All students receive an email account when registered at the college.

 Banner - This link will take you to the Banner login page. Banner is the system that allows you to access your student schedule, transcripts and grades.

Blackboard - This link will take you to the Blackboard login page. Blackboard is used for online courses.

Software for Computers

• Starving Student Software: Stop by the Help Desk located in room 2409 next to the library to get a copy of the free Starving Student Software CD. This CD was created to help make free, quality software more accessible to students at BTC. Software is offered in the following categories: Office and Productivity, Internet, Anti-virus/Spyware, Utilities, Graphics, Music and Video.
• Software may be purchased at substantial discounts at http://wisc.edu/wisc.

USB Jump Drives

Helpful tips for purchasing and using your USB device.

• Do not buy a memory stick that has the U3 encryption software on it. We currently know that Lexmark and SanDisk have this technology and it will not work on BTC computers. If you are unsure if the manufacturer has this software on it please ask the sales person. 
• Note: The College Bookstore sells jump drives that are compatible with our systems. 

Suggested Specifications for Home Computers

When purchasing a new computer for home use, it is imperative to have a computer that meets the minimum requirements for running production software. An Intel-compatible computer system with at least the following is recommended:  

• Pentium/Celeron class processor@2.0 GHz or faster
• 1 GB RAM (minimum)
• 2 GB RAM (preferred for Microsoft Vista)
• 40GB Hard Drive (minimum; much larger if you want to store music or movies)
• CD ROM Drive
• Windows Vista
• Latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE)
• Virus Scan Software - Trend Micro, Norton, McAfee or AVG (free) 
• **For wireless access for laptops, 802 b/g wireless network adaptor is required.
