Returning Materials
Those using materials, whether in or out of the library, are responsible for any deterioration in the condition of the material while in their use, as well as the safe and timely return of the materials. Staff who lose library materials will be assessed a replacement charge plus a processing fee. If a lost item is found and returned in good condition before the replacement has been ordered, the replacement cost will be refunded.
All materials will need to be returned to the library at the end of the school year (May) for inventory purposes regardless of checkout date. Part-time staff will need to return materials at the end of their teaching assignment/course.
Renewals
One renewal is allowed for all materials.
Advance Booking Materials
All BTC staff may request an item be advance booked for them. Advanced booking materials allows staff to schedule an appointment to use the material at a future date. To request a 'booking' be placed on a title, please contact any library staff person or fill out the Advanced Booking Form.
Holds
Placing a hold puts your name on a waiting list for an item that is currently checked out. A patron is notified by phone or email when an item is available for checkout.
Overdue Policies and Fines
Staff will receive notices of materials that are overdue by email. There will be a 5 day grace period for staff before fees begin to accrue. If you are unable to find the material, please contact the library staff immediately and we will work with you.
If an item is not returned in 30 days and no contact has been made to library staff, it will be assumed that the library item is lost. Staff will then receive a second notice by way of email or US mail.
After 60 days, staff will receive a notice from the billing office for restitution of the lost item and library privileges may be lost until restitution is made.
