IT Information System Security Specialist
Cyber-security, including computer and information
systems security, is a rapidly growing area. Both
private and public sector enterprises-including
federal, state, and local governmental units are looking for people
who have specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities related to
cyber-security. This degree prepares students for entry-level
employment in support positions related to endpoint security,
network security, Web security, information security education and
training, and much more.
Cyber-security includes operations that protect and
defend both information and information systems, by ensuring their
availability, integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and
nonrepudiation.
This includes providing for the restoration of
information systems by incorporating protection, detection,
and reaction capabilities. Information security
systems provide protection against unauthorized access to or
modification of information, whether in storage, processing, or
transit.
Detection, documentation, and countering of such
threats are critical skill areas for specialists in this field.
