Nursing
The Associate Degree Nursing program prepares nurses
to function with the knowledge, skill and judgment of beginning
staff nurses in a variety of health care settings. The program is
accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission
(NLNAC).
The Associate Degree Nursing program consists of a
minimum of four semesters. Completion of the program may take longer
depending upon the number of students petitioning to enter clinical
nursing classes. Nursing courses include classroom, laboratory, and
clinical experiences in a variety of settings. A grade of “C-” or
higher must be received in all program required courses.
Graduates are eligible to apply to the Wisconsin
Board of Nursing to take the examination for licensure as a
Registered Nurse. State Administrative Code rules state that a
graduate may have difficulty obtaining a license with an arrest or
conviction record that is substantially related to nursing practice.
The Coordinator of the program is available to
discuss concerns in this area. Students may apply for testing
for licensure as a L.P.N. Licensed Practical Nurse) after
successfully completing all courses through the second semester.
L.P.N.’s entering into the ADN program may receive credit for past
clinical education based on their current knowledge, skills and
judgment. In order to help L.P.N.’s be program ready, they will need
to take the Nursing Bridge course before entering third semester.
Reentry, transfer, and LPN students must contact the counseling
office for information about entry to the nursing program.
Acceptance to the program will be based upon space
availability and approval of the nursing faculty.
