2020 Commencement Postponed to Aug. 1

March 31, 2020

Celebrating our graduates at our annual commencement ceremony is one of the most significant things we do all year. Therefore, we don’t want to miss an opportunity to celebrate all the accomplishments and hard work of the Class of 2020. Due to the public health emergency and continued concerns regarding the spread of COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to postpone commencement to Saturday, August 1, 2020, at 11:30 a.m. in the Dream Center in Beloit.

The decision to postpone the ceremony was made following the extension of federal social distancing guidelines through at least the end of April. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will make additional changes, if necessary. Members of the college Graduation Committee will be reaching out directly to students who applied to participate in the ceremony to confirm participation in August.

Everyone at Blackhawk is committed to keeping students on track to complete courses and graduate on time. The spring term will be extended to accommodate students who will need extra time to complete course requirements from the spring term.

If you are graduating this spring or summer, please complete a short survey regarding commencement. We are gathering information about preferred names, pronunciations, programs, and employment. This information is critical to the actual commencement ceremony and the college’s outcome-based funding from the State of Wisconsin. The survey should take less than ten minutes to complete. We look forward to celebrating the Blackhawk Technical College Class of 2020 when the public health emergency has been lifted.
