Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Secretary-Designee Amy Pechacek joined manufacturing employers, educators, and workforce development partners at a Youth Apprenticeship Lunch & Learn event Wednesday at BTC’s Advanced Manufacturing Training Center in celebration of National Apprenticeship Week and the 30th anniversary of the state’s Youth Apprenticeship program.

He headed into a four-year college with every intention of graduating and then suffered from the same challenge we’ve all faced, COVID. “During my second semester, Platteville’s campus shut down due to COVID-19. During this time,” he said, “I had no interest in school and was thinking about dropping out.”

BTC Foundation Announces New Fund for the Future of Manufacturing

IDEAL Scholarship Paves the Way for Student Success

The Blackhawk Technical College Foundation is proud to present this semester’s IDEAL Opportunity Scholarship recipient – Jacob Bernal. Through this opportunity, Jacob will experience two internships while progressing through the Industrial Maintenance Technician program. For the Fall 2021 semester, Jacob is working with the maintenance department at SHINE Technologies, and for the Spring 2022 semester, he will transfer to the Beloit Frito-Lay facility. In his work, Jacob has already had the chance to fulfill physical requests like repairing items and hanging whiteboards and machining requests like creating custom parts.
