Blackhawk Sees Steady Enrollment Growth
With fall 2025 enrollments increasing 7.5% over fall 2024, Blackhawk Technical College has seen enrollment increase more than 26% since 2022:
- 2022: 3,315
- 2023: 3,626
- 2024: 3,671
- 2025: 3,964
- Projected 2026: 4,182
Blackhawk has experienced consistent growth over the past several years due to several factors. Some of the growth can be attributed to Blackhawk’s new Talons athletics programs plus available student housing in partnership with Beloit College, according to Executive Director of Student Services Katie Lange, Ed.D. Other factors impacting enrollment include increased direct high school enrollment, the addition of university transfer programs, and newly added programs needed by local communities.
“We have also seen success working with returning students who were at Blackhawk, stepped away, and are interested in returning to finish their academic goals,” Lange said.
Surge from high schools
Direct high school enrollment registrations are up 19% compared to last year, Lange said. This group of students coming to Blackhawk directly after graduating from high school is a growing demographic for the College.
“We continue to see increases from students in high school engaging in credit-level courses, such as the Collegiate Academy model and the Rock University High School Middle College model,” Lange shared.
Popular programs
Blackhawk’s Executive Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness Jon Tysse indicated the Associate of Science degree program grew 15% over the last two years and grew 21% from fall 2024 to fall 2025. Similarly, the Associate of Arts degree program grew 12% over the last two years.
The top five most popular programs for new students, according to data shared by Tysse, are:
- Nursing
- Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Vascular Technology
- Business Management
- Criminal Justice Studies
- Radiography
