Blackhawk's Radiography Graduates Recognized in Pinning Ceremony

Radiography spring 2026 graduates

In celebration of the completion of their degree, 14 Radiography students were recognized on May 15 with a pinning ceremony on Blackhawk Technical College’s Beloit-Janesville Campus.

“Over these two years, we’ve grown in ways we probably didn’t expect. We’ve made friendships, figured out what we love (and don’t love) about radiology, and found our confidence,” said Cortlyn Tetzloff, student speaker. “We’ve also seen firsthand how quickly life can change, and because of that, I think we’ve all learned to appreciate the people around us a little more.”

“When we walked into our first classroom two years ago, we were just a group of individuals from different backgrounds, different life stages, and different cities,” the other student speaker, Josephine Weber, said. “Over time, something changed. We started working together more. We started supporting each other, helping each other out, and understanding that we were all going through the same challenges, just in different ways. By the end, it didn’t feel like just a group of individuals anymore, it felt like a class that had been through something real together.”

Other speakers at the event included Adam Dazey from Mercy Walworth, Elizabeth Nguyen from Beloit Memorial Hospital, Katie Church, Blackhawk’s Radiography Program Clinical Coordinator, and Ali Liezert-Dale, Blackhawk’s Radiography Program Director.

“You are the new recruits that can change negativity into positivity. Don’t ever forget that you have been given the skill set to work as an individual but also as a team. Be a leader and focus on the good and not the bad,” Liezert-Dale told the graduates. “Advocate for yourself and your loved ones and remember the importance of clear communication with your healthcare providers. Do not hesitate to ask questions or seek clarification. If you believe there is a better approach or an alternative pathway to improve patient care or a procedure, feel confident in sharing your perspective and speaking up.”

Blackhawk’s Radiography program is a 63-credit associate degree course that trains students to produce images of the human body to assist physicians in the diagnosis of injuries and disease. They use X-ray imaging machines to demonstrate body parts on X-ray for diagnostic purposes, including diagnostic radiology, bedside and trauma procedures, pediatric radiography and special procedures.
