Get to Know Alexander Castellanos, IT Department Intern
Alexander Castellanos, a dual-credit student at Rock University High School and Blackhawk Technical College, is turning his love for technology into hands-on experience as an intern with the IT department at Blackhawk’s Janesville-Beloit Campus this summer through the Rock Internship Program.
“I chose to participate in the Rock Internship Program because of the opportunities to work with companies connected to my future career to see if I like the career,” said Alex, who is a Janesville native. “I hope to learn how an IT department works, the standards needed to maintain and how the network and servers function.”
Like many, Alex has experienced obstacles and challenges on his educational journey.
“There have been quite a few times when I have had lots of work to do, or I was in lots of classes, but the way I overcome them is by managing my time and staying calm,” he said.
After graduating from both RUHS and Blackhawk in June 2026, Alex plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree. He’s also interested in computer engineering and physics.
“I love everything that has to do with tech, but I also enjoy practically anything this world has,” he said.
