Kevin Holmin has always enjoyed hands-on lab work, and he’s excited to bring that passion to Blackhawk Technical College’s Integrated Science Center, where he started as a Lab Assistant on July 1.

Holmin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Northern Illinois University. Before joining Blackhawk’s Integrated Science Center, he spent nine years working at Blackhawk’s Monroe Campus as both a Medical Lab Technician and a Laboratory Food Science Technician.

He appreciates how Blackhawk structures its education delivery, helping students make the most of their opportunities to find the right educational path. Recognizing that flexible learning options can be new or challenging for some, Holmin encourages students to communicate openly and early with their instructors about any concerns.

When asked about life outside of work, Holmin joked that his life is boring, but he added that he’s enthusiastic about his career path, noting that “modern tech fields are exciting and changing. There are always opportunities for growth.”
