Get to Know Kris Lika, Math Instructor
Krisilda (Kris) Lika started as a Math Instructor in August and not only knows a lot about advanced mathematics, she also speaks four languages. The Albania native is fluent in English and Albanian, and she is also able to hold conversations in Spanish and Turkish.
Kris earned her bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain and Operations Management from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, then got a post-bachelor’s minor in Mathematics, also from UW-Milwaukee. She received her Master of Science degree in Mathematics from Indiana State University last spring.
As a new instructor, Kris is focused on engaging students through active learning strategies and modern instructional tools to help them grow confidence in math.
“What drew me most is that I truly love teaching and working with students,” she said. “Math education has become more student-centered using active learning, technology, and real-world examples to keep students engaged.”
She encourages students to get a little better every day and says that improving by even 1% adds up.
In her free time, Kris enjoys family time, traveling, the gym, and getting fresh flowers every week.
