Sometimes, a business needs to train its employees on computer software. Kerry, Inc. in Beloit needed help teaching its employees more about Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint applications. The company turned to Blackhawk Technical College for this customized training.

Customized training

“Members of my team referred me to Blackhawk to see if we could get customized, in-person training, and I liked what I found on the college website,” explained Jennifer Sinclair, Kerry’s Senior Manager of International Trade & Customs.

Blackhawk has provided customized training options for area businesses for decades. The College offers flexible, cost-effective training solutions for organizations of every size in any industry. Its instructors can create a fully customizable learning experience built to deliver lasting outcomes based on specific objectives and needs.

“Our first training was about two years ago,” Sinclair said. “I contacted Blackhawk via the website and was responded to swiftly to have discussions about options to come train my team. I learned Blackhawk already had some experience with customized training at Kerry, and our team became another happy customer! We have worked together the past few years, and we’ve had the joy of working with the same trainer for each session we’ve done and are so appreciative of the partnership we have with Blackhawk.”

Flexible options

Kerry employees have benefitted from in-person and virtual training, Sinclair said. Because nearly half of her International Logistics and Trade team is outside the Beloit area, the flexibility of the training has worked out well.

“Our instructors collaborate with partners to create a fully customized learning experience designed to achieve meaningful, lasting outcomes,” Blackhawk’s Workforce Development Manager Colleen Koerth said.”Kerry has been a fantastic partner in this space, working with Blackhawk to provide professional development opportunities for staff.”

“My team has been thrilled with the skills training we’ve participated in and conveyed that it has helped them be more effective in their daily work. The structure of each course has been easy to follow, and most team members are grateful to have printed materials to refer back to,” Sinclair said. “I would be happy to refer Blackhawk to any of my colleagues, given our wonderful experiences.”
