Elena Henry, Part-time Accommodations and Support Specialist
With more than 20 years of experience in education, youth development, and program leadership, Beloit native Elena Henry was drawn to Blackhawk by her desire to support students and help them succeed. She holds a master’s degree in education from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
“I have always believed that education is about so much more than what happens in a classroom. It's about building confidence, creating opportunities, removing barriers, and sometimes simply being that one person who believes in someone when they need it most. Looking back, I feel that each chapter of my career has led me to where I am today, and I am excited to continue that journey at Blackhawk Technical College,” Henry said.
She enjoys spending time with family and friends, tackling projects around the house, spending time outdoors, reading, and seeing former students grow and find success in their lives.
Dana Leikness, Student Recruitment Specialist

The Monroe native graduated from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a bachelor’s degree in education, then worked for various organizations across Rock County. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for ARISE Virtual Academy through the School District of Janesville.
“I am excited to participate in student recruitment activities with potential future students to raise awareness of the programs that are offered at Blackhawk. I am thrilled to continue to build and maintain relationships with the K-12 schools and partners,” she said.
Leikness is married, and the couple has a son and a dachshund. The family enjoys traveling, trying new things, and attending sporting events to support the Brewers, Badgers, and Packers.
Alyssa McElmurry, Administrative Assistant-Health Sciences
Originally from Brodhead, Alyssa McElmurry is the new administrative assistant for the Nursing Assistant and Nursing programs. She earned her associate degree from University of Wisconsin-Rock County and completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology at UW-Whitewater. Her work in administrative support at the Department of Military Affairs within the National Guard Nurse Case Management Office in Madison and the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office in Janesville led her to apply at Blackhawk.
“My previous job was one I went into as a temporary step back in pace so I was able to prioritize being a mother. Although it was a bit earlier than intended, this position was a fantastic opportunity that I knew I could not pass up,” McElmurry said.
When she’s not at work, she has a long list of activities to keep her busy, from enjoying time outdoors to reading and crafting. Her two children, two dogs, three cats and a gerbil keep her house “full of chaos and laughter,” she said.
