Our ITS team also performs regular system maintenance to help keep things up and running.

ITS will perform regular system maintenance in an effort to provide stable and secure systems. Technology services may be unavailable in 30-60 minute increments as updates are applied. If you are unable to access a system during this time, please try again in 30-60 minutes.

Change Your Password

First time users will be automatically prompted to create a new password when attempting to log in with their temporary password (i.e. Blackhawk000123456). Please note: Blackhawk Technical College will never ask for your password.

Forgot Your Password?

You can change your BTC password using the Password Reset Tool (linked below) or by clicking "Can't access your account" at the MyBTC login screen. You will be prompted to verify your identity using the verification method you configured at your first log in.

Learn more about login credentials and device setup:

Your student email address is your username@students.blackhawk.edu. Your username is the first initial of your first name and your last name (no spaces between). Some users will have numbers added to ensure uniqueness. Your username can be found on your acceptance letter or on your registration schedule/bill when you register for classes.

Your password is initially set to Blackhawk and your 9-digit student ID number (found on your acceptance letter or on your registration schedule/bill). 

Example: Blackhawk000123456

Passwords are case-sensitive and must be at least eight characters, have a capital letter and contain a number or special character. Your password cannot be the same as your previous six passwords.

Note: you must have a passcode lock on your mobile device.

  1. Go to Settings then Accounts & Passwords (or Mail, Contacts, Calendars)
  2. Select Add Account then Exchange (or Microsoft Exchange)
  3. Enter information for the following fields:
    • Email: username@students.blackhawk.edu
    • Password: your BTC password
    • Domain: BTC
    • Username: username@students.blackhawk.edu
    • Server: outlook.office365.com
  4. Select content to Sync & Save
  5. Click Save and you're done!

Note: you must have a passcode lock on your mobile device.

  1. Go to Settings then Cloud & Accounts 
    For Gmail, tap the Menu ☰ then Settings
  2. Select Accounts (or Add Account)
  3. Choose Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync (or Exchange & Office 365)
  4. Enter information for the following fields:
    • Email: username@students.blackhawk.edu
    • Password: your BTC password
    • Domain: BTC
    • Username: username@students.blackhawk.edu
    • Server: outlook.office365.com
  5. Agree and select content to Sync & Save
  6. Click Save and you're done!
  1. Go to Settings then select Wi-Fi
  2. From the list of available wireless networks, select BTC_Wireless
  3. When prompted for authentication, enter your BTC Username and Password
  4. A certificate warning message will appear – click Trust (Accept)
  5. You should now be connected to BTC_Wireless 

If you are a visitor at BTC and do not have a username and password, you may connect to the BTC_Visitor Wi-Fi.

Android/Chromebook Devices

  1. Go to Settings and search for and select Wi-Fi
  2. From the list of available wireless networks, select BTC_Wireless
  3. When prompted for authentication, ensure the following settings are selected:
    1. EAP Method: PEAP
    2. Phase 2 Authentication: None*
    3. CA Certificate: Do not validate.
    4. Identity: Enter your BTC Username
    5. Password: Enter your BTC Password
  4. Tap on Connect and then you should be connected to BTC_Wireless

*Some Chromebooks may require "MSCHAPv2" for Phase 2 Authentication.


Android 11 Users

  1. From the list of available wireless networks, select BTC_Visitor
  2. Near the bottom of the screen, click the button named Students/Staff
  3. When prompted for authentication, enter your BTC Username and Password
  4. Click Sign-On

If you are a visitor at BTC and do not have a username and password, you may connect to the BTC_Visitor Wi-Fi.

  1. Click on the wireless button on the taskbar.
  2. From the list of available wireless networks, select BTC_Wireless
  3. When prompted for authentication, enter your BTC Username and Password
  4. A certificate warning message will appear, click Trust (Accept)
  5. You should now be connected to BTC_Wireless

If you are a visitor at BTC and do not have a username and password, you may connect to the BTC_Visitor Wi-Fi.
