Change Your Password

Note: First time users will be automatically prompted to create a new password when attempting to log in with their temporary password (i.e. Blackhawk000123456). If you're having trouble, stop by the ITS Help Desk or call (608) 757-7711.

Know Your Password?

If you know your current password, you can change it at the MyBTC login screen. Reminder: Make sure to use your full email address for the username field. You will be prompted to enter your new password twice.

Forgot Your Password?

If you forgot your password and have registered security questions, you can change it using the Password Reset Tool. You must be able to correctly answer your saved questions in order to reset your forgotten password.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your student email address is your username@students.blackhawk.edu. Your username is the first initial of your first name and your last name (no spaces between). Some users will have numbers added to ensure uniqueness. Your username can be found on your acceptance letter or on your registration schedule/bill when you register for classes.

Your password is initially set to Blackhawk and your 9-digit student ID number (found on your acceptance letter or on your registration schedule/bill). 

Example: Blackhawk000123456

Passwords are case-sensitive and must be at least eight characters, have a capital letter and contain a number or special character. Your password cannot be the same as your previous six passwords.

Note: you must have a passcode lock on your mobile device.

  1. Go to Settings then Accounts & Passwords (or Mail, Contacts, Calendars)
  2. Select Add Account then Exchange (or Microsoft Exchange)
  3. Enter information for the following fields:
    • Email: username@students.blackhawk.edu
    • Password: your BTC password
    • Domain: BTC
    • Username: username@students.blackhawk.edu
    • Server: outlook.office365.com
  4. Select content to Sync & Save
  5. Click Save and you're done!

Note: you must have a passcode lock on your mobile device.

  1. Go to Settings then Cloud & Accounts 
    For Gmail, tap the Menu ☰ then Settings
  2. Select Accounts (or Add Account)
  3. Choose Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync (or Exchange & Office 365)
  4. Enter information for the following fields:
    • Email: username@students.blackhawk.edu
    • Password: your BTC password
    • Domain: BTC
    • Username: username@students.blackhawk.edu
    • Server: outlook.office365.com
  5. Agree and select content to Sync & Save
  6. Click Save and you're done!
  1. Go to Settings then Wi-Fi
  2. Select BTC_Wireless from the available networks
  3. Enter your BTC Username and Password
  4. Click Join
  5. Select Trust to accept the certificate 

If you are a visitor at BTC and do not have a username and password, you may connect to the BTC_Visitor Wi-Fi.

  1. Go to Settings then Connections then Wi-Fi
  2. Select BTC_Wireless from the available networks
  3. Enter your BTC Username and Password
  4. Click Join
  5. Select PEAP for EAP Method
  6. Select None for Phase 2 Authentication 
  7. Select None for CA Certificate
  8. Click Connect

If you are a visitor at BTC and do not have a username and password, you may connect to the BTC_Visitor Wi-Fi.
