Purpose of the Advisory Committees

Advisory committees consist of industry professionals, alumni, educators and community partners who play a key role in helping Blackhawk align academic programs and workplace skills with real world needs. Committee members provide insight and guidance to ensure Blackhawk’s programs stay current with industry standards, community needs and emerging technologies to produce job-ready graduates.

Your Role

As an advisory committee member, you’ll share your expertise to help shape the future of education and workforce development in our region. You’ll collaborate to:

  • Review industry trends
  • Provide curriculum input to enhance programs
  • Share workforce insights and employer needs
  • Support connections to internships, apprenticeships and partnerships
  • Recommend updates to facilities and technology
  • Support student recruitment and public awareness

Membership Information

Blackhawk has advisory committees for academic programs and the Workforce and Community Development department. Those participating include employees, supervisors, industry leaders, alumni, workforce partners and faculty. The Workforce Advisory Committee focuses on helping Rock County and Green County businesses.

Time Commitment

Committees meet twice per year (spring and fall) to discuss program updates, new training initiatives and opportunities for collaboration. Participation can be in-person or virtual.

Additional Opportunities

Committee members may take on leadership roles such as chair or co-chair, helping facilitate meetings, guide discussions, and serve as a liaison between the committee and Blackhawk staff.

Note: Advisory committees are required by the Wisconsin Technical College System and play a vital role in continuous program improvement.
