Blackhawk’s Back-to-School Survey Shares Summer Stories

Image

The results are in, and Blackhawk Technical College’s students had varying experiences over the summer. Here are the results of our recent survey:

  • The top summer movie, as rated by respondents, was “Spiderman: Brand New Day” followed by “Toy Story 5.”
  • Nearly two-thirds of respondents reported they had either a part-time or full-time summer job. A couple said they worked too much overtime, while a half dozen said they didn’t work at all.
  • About 32% of respondents took summer classes, while the rest took a break from their studies.
  • Vacation travel spots included:
    • Michigan, Eagle River and Lake Geneva
    • Minot, North Dakota, and Theodore Roosevelt National Park near Medora, North Dakota
    • California
    • Spain, Ireland, France and the UK
    • The Bahamas
    • Albuquerque, New Mexico (for a honeymoon! Congrats!)
    • Las Vegas
    • Racine
    • Los Angeles
    • Wisconsin Dells
    • Portland, Maine, and somewhere in California
  • Some of the most memorable things that happened over the summer break included:
    • Going to Little Amerrika with their son
    • Spending time with a 5-month-old great-granddaughter
    • Sleeping (we understand completely)
    • Visiting their first-ever national park
    • Hanging out with friends
    • Having a family day in Wisconsin Dells
    • Kissing the Blarney Stone
    • Getting their physical health in a better place
    • Meeting her boyfriend
    • Getting married (again, congratulations!)
    • Applying at Blackhawk for a full-time position
    • Getting engaged (more congratulations!)
    • Making new friends
    • Their son starting football for the first time this summer
    • Getting two husky puppies (yay, puppies!)
    • Starting college
  • On a scale of 1-10 (with 1 being “not at all” and 10 being “totally pumped”) students shared how ready they are for the fall semester.
    • More than half of respondents selected 7-10, so they are pretty pumped for this semester!
    • A few said they’re in the 4-6 range.
    • A couple outliers shared that they aren’t ready at all. If you know anyone in this category, please encourage and support them! Remember that Blackhawk has many resources available to help all students succeed.
