Blackhawk’s Nursing Assistant Program Recertified
Blackhawk Technical College’s Nursing Assistant program must be recertified every two years. The recertification process requires a site visit from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services Bureau of Quality Assurance. On Nov. 11, 2025, a state CNA site visit took place.
“The site visitor was impressed with our facilities, from our Monroe Campus and Beloit-Janesville Campus to Career Tek, Brodhead High School, Evansville High School, Edgerton High School and Milton High School,” Blackhawk CNA and Nursing Program Chair Traci Newcomer said.
The 90-hour program includes classroom lectures, campus lab experiences and a clinical practicum in which students work at healthcare agencies with patients and residents. Classes are held at Blackhawk’s Beloit-Janesville Campus and its Monroe Campus. Program graduates receive a technical diploma and are prepared to take the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Competency Exam (WNACE).
The results of the report submitted following the site visit were recently sent to Newcomer in a letter from DHS. The letter shows Blackhawk’s CNA program is approved for two more years, from Nov. 1, 2025, through Oct. 31, 2027.
