Our Human Services programs prepare compassionate professionals to support individuals, families and communities through advocacy, behavioral health, social services and community-based care.

Flexible Learning Options

Many courses at Blackhawk are offered in one or more of these formats:

  • Face-to-Face
  • Live Online (synchronous)
  • Online Anytime (asynchronous)
  • Hybrid (mix of online and in-person courses)
  • FlexLab (in-person when it fits your schedule)

For some courses, we offer a MyEdChoice option, allowing you to choose how to attend each class session. You can switch between online and in-person formats from week to week or even day to day, depending on your needs and schedule. More Information

Note: Not all courses in the Healthcare and Human Services programs offer every course option. Once a student is enrolled, they can check with their advisor about what options are available.

Career Pathways

Career Pathways are structured to guide you in achieving your education goals while exploring different career opportunities. Each pathway include related certificates, diplomas, and degrees that build on shared skills and knowledge. You can enter at a level that fits your experience and personalize your path to align with your goals. Explore the pathway that matches your interests.

There are many opportunities, including high school where students can get a head start on a college degree, or through previous college, work, and/or military experience, to earn credit for prior learning at Blackhawk.

Certificates include a streamlined set of courses in a specific program area, providing a set of industry-recognized skills preparing students for entry-level employment.

Associate degrees are typically completed in two years by full-time students and combine hands-on technical skills with general education.

Prepare to enter your exciting new career, or choose to continue your education with another Blackhawk program or by transferring your credits to a four-year college or university.
