The Medical Lab Specialist program prepares students for in-demand laboratory careers by building a strong foundation in clinical lab theory and practice. Students develop knowledge in biology, chemistry, and medical terminology while learning how laboratory diagnostics support patient care. Coursework covers key areas such as hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, and immunology.
Students gain hands-on experience in lab environments, applying skills in data analysis, error identification, and result interpretation. The program emphasizes quality assurance, safety protocols, and regulatory standards, helping students evaluate test reliability and support accurate, safe patient outcomes.
Graduates are equipped with the technical skills and critical thinking needed for clinical laboratory settings and are prepared to pursue national certifications such as ASCP or AMT. With additional experience or education, students can further advance toward Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) credentials.
Medical lab professionals help diagnose up to 70% of medical conditions through lab testing.
