A good phlebotomist makes the difference between a good experience or a poor one for the anxious and nervous patient who is having his/her blood drawn. Being skilled at drawing blood and having the ability to calm a patient's fears is an important part of this healthcare role. If you are considering a career in phlebotomy, you will need good communication skills, empathy for your patients as well as the ability to calmly work under pressure as a member of the phlebotomy team. Phlebotomy is an excellent career as well as being a good addition to other careers in the healthcare field such as nursing, medical laboratory technician, and radiology.

Our Phlebotomy program teaches the student proper techniques of specimen collection and processing standards, infection control standards, and legal regulations in the healthcare environment. There is an 18 credit hour option available if the student is interested in considering other health care programs in the future. Upon completion, the student has the option of taking the ASCP certification exam with the nation's oldest and most recognized organization for laboratory professionals.
