This program prepares students for a career in respiratory care by developing the knowledge, technical abilities, and professional behaviors needed to work as part of a healthcare team. Through a combination of classroom instruction, lab work, and clinical experiences, students learn how to support patients with breathing and cardiopulmonary conditions across a variety of care settings.

Students gain hands-on experience assessing patient status, performing diagnostic testing such as blood gas analysis and pulmonary function tests, and delivering therapeutic treatments. The program also emphasizes clinical decision-making, allowing students to evaluate patient responses, adjust treatments, and contribute to care plans. Communication and patient education are key components, helping students effectively support patients and their families.

Graduates are prepared to pursue credentialing as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and are eligible to sit for both entry-level and advanced certification exams. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon recommendation of the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), ensuring it meets national standards for respiratory therapy education.
