Blackhawk Students Place in National Business Competition

Seven members of Blackhawk’s Business Professionals of America (BPA) student organization were among about 6,500 students from across the nation who attended BPA’s National Leadership Conference last week in Anaheim, Calif.

Several Blackhawk students completed in various competitions in areas including, Finance, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Digital Communication & Design, Management, Marketing & Communication, and Health Administration.

Passion Tann, Sierra Vogel and Liliana Cummings competed in the Small Business Management Team competition and won first place. The team used strategic planning and problem-solving skills to provide solutions to a business case study provided.

Other students who competed were:

  • Julie White placed eighth place in Fundamentals of Web Design and sixth place in both Personal Financial Management and Fundamentals of Word Processing.
  • Dave Jaeckel placed 13th in Business Law & Ethics and seventh in Payroll Accounting.
  • Liliana Cummings placed 10th in Business Law & Ethics.

At a National Honors Awards ceremony, Amy Powell was recognized for achieving the Ambassador Torch Award. At the Wisconsin state meeting at the conference, Joel Schleusner was named the Chapter Advisor of the Year for Wisconsin.

BPA provides opportunities for students to develop, lead and compete as they prepare for their business career.
