Advisory Committees

Everyone plays an important role.

Required by the Wisconsin Technical College System, advisory committees play a critical role in the operation of Blackhawk Technical College's academic offerings as well as within our workforce division. Advisory committees are organized to provide advice and counsel to program managers and faculty regarding specific associate degree and technical diploma programs. These committees help BTC ensure that programs are relevant to the community, address industry standards, meet workforce needs and have appropriate resources to support high quality student outcomes. To do this, advisory committees work on:

  • Needs assessment
  • Academic program/review/curriculum planning
  • Facilities upgrading recommendations
  • Public relations
  • Recruitment
  • Cooperative Education/Internship
  • Leadership

As previously mentioned, BTC’s Workforce Department also has an advisory committee to help guide their work. The Workforce Advisory Committee helps shape the offerings and resources needed to support Green and Rock county businesses build and sustain a top-notch, globally competent workforce. Committee members meet twice a year to discuss a wide range of topics including:

  • New training programs and services
  • Providing BTC online resources
  • Issuing surveys and using survey data
  • Adding continuing education programs
