Welcome to our “Get to Know Blackhawk” series, which uses a Q&A format to showcase the diverse and talented individuals within the college community.

Where did you grow up and what high school did you attend?

I grew up in Whitewater and attended Whitewater High School.

What is your area of study? Is there something in particular that drew you to the program?

I am in the Dental Assistant program. Making others feel optimistic and confident about their smile is what drew me into this program.

Why did you choose to attend Blackhawk Technical College?

I’ve had a passion for this profession and picked this college because I couldn’t wait to learn from the experts who lead this outstanding program.

What do you like most about Blackhawk?

One thing that I like most about Blackhawk is that I’ve had the privilege of making many magnificent new friends. Also, with the help and support from my instructors, I feel prepared to face the outside world.

How has Blackhawk helped you to pursue/complete your goals?

Blackhawk has helped me develop an open mind while encountering new experiences and challenges. In addition, it has helped me prepare for a future in which I am equipped to give back.

On your educational journey, have you had to overcome any obstacles or challenges?

I have certainly encountered new challenges, but it is crucial to keep in mind that every day is a new opportunity to better yourself and take on that challenge to gain experience.

When do you plan to graduate?

May 2024

What are your plans for life after Blackhawk?

Apply everything I have learned and work at a dental facility. Traveling to Spain or Greece is also something I look forward to.

What advice do you have for other individuals who are considering Blackhawk?

Become part of this phenomenal facility with such a positive environment that will help you succeed and allow you to grow into a strong individual.

Tell us something about yourself you think people would be surprised to know.

Spanish was my first language and the first English songs I learned as a child were “The Sign” by Ace of Base and “Hotel California” by The Eagles.

What is your favorite color? Why?

Sage green because it is associated with new beginnings, renewal and nature.

Who is your biggest influence?

My mother and my father.

What is your favorite quote?

“Kindness is contagious and it is completely free, so let us create an effect of spreading positivity into the world.”

What's one song that must always be on your playlist?

“Connected” by Stereo MCs

If you could hang out with any movie character, who would you choose?

Snoopy

What was your favorite cartoon as a kid?

“The Pink Panther” and “The Backyardigans”

What is your favorite pizza topping?

Pepperoni

Who is your favorite artist or piece of art?

As a child, any type of graffiti art would catch my attention.

If you could be any animal, which one would you choose?

A seahorse

What is your dream vacation destination?

Either Italy or Spain.

What’s one thing on your bucket list?

To scuba dive.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, which food would you pick?

Sushi

If you could have any superpower, which one would you pick?

Teleportation

If you could have dinner with anybody, alive or dead, who would you choose?

I would always choose to have dinner with my younger sister.
