Yesterday, leaders from Blackhawk Technical College (BTC), Rock County 5.0 and the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board presented four “earn and learn” initiatives to more than 100 attendees.

According to the Wisconsin State Board of Nursing, BTC’s nursing students netted a composite score of 100% on the most recent National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) marking the second consecutive year the BTC program has either ranked #1 or tied for the best composite score among all Wisconsin colleges. This year, three other private colleges earned a 100% result including Carroll University, Maranatha Baptist Bible College and Wisconsin Lutheran College.

Blackhawk Technical College’s chapter of the Post-Secondary Agriculture Students Organization (PAS) cleaned up at the most recent Wisconsin PAS competition earning 21 total award certificates including seven total first place finishes and four second place honors. The strong showing qualified 15 BTC students to attend the national conference this week in Louisville, Kentucky.

Fifteen Blackhawk Technical College students working on apprenticeships have each received $1,500 in scholarship money from the Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation and Affiliates. The Tools of the Trade Apprenticeship Scholarship program helps apprentices with financial need complete their programs and advance to in-demand jobs.
