Moira Lafayette joins BTC as new Dean

Moira Lafayette is Blackhawk Technical College’s new Dean of Health Sciences and Public Safety.  A veteran educator and administrative leader for more than 20 years, Lafayette took over the position on February 5, replacing Nancy Lightfield, who is retiring from BTC in April.

New Mechatronics Apprenticeship

In a joint effort between Blackhawk Technical College (BTC) and the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board (SWWDB), with support from sponsoring employers including Bell Laboratories, Miniature Precision Components, Pratt Industries, Scot Forge, Seneca Foods Corp. and Emmi Roth USA, Inc., a new Mechatronics Apprenticeship has been created as part of BTC’s academic offerings starting in January, 2018.

BPA Chapter scores big at leadership conference

Congratulations on a job well done to all of the BTC students who participated at the Business Professional of America State Leadership Conference in Wausau, Wisconsin. Your hard work, academic efforts and preparation led to 12 different awards qualifying BTC’s chapter to attend the BPA National Leadership Conference on May 9-13th in Dallas, Texas.

2018 Soul Food Luncheon

Blackhawk Technical College will hold its annual Soul Food Luncheon on Tuesday, Feb. 27, with proceeds from the event being used to fund BTC scholarships for multicultural students.

By all appearances, Amy Mossman was living a very satisfying life. She liked her steady, full-time job as a medical receptionist. Her two children were successful – a daughter at UW-Milwaukee, a son in high school. She held a BA degree in Art from UW-Oshkosh, an educational journey that included studies at UW-Madison. Yet something in Amy Mossman’s life was missing.
