Funds Help Finance Equipment, Tools and Clothing to Help Apprentices Succeed

Thirteen Blackhawk Technical College construction and industrial trades’ apprentices have each received $1,500 scholarships from Ascendium Education Group (formerly Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation & Affiliates). The Tools of the Trade Apprentice Scholarship program helps apprentices with financial need complete their programs and advance to in-demand jobs.

Thanks to the generosity of one local family, future police officers now have the opportunity to receive help to pay for their educational expenses at Blackhawk Technical College. The scholarship created in the memory of Beloit Police Department Officer Tom Niman will benefit a student interested in joining a local police department.

Blackhawk Technical College Growing in Green County

Blackhawk Technical College held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, April 24 at the BTC-Monroe Campus to celebrate the construction of a 3,200 sq. ft. lab facility for its Agribusiness degree program. BTC has chosen Keller, Inc as the construction management team on the project. The $650,000 project will provide a new home for the program that will give students the space and opportunity to have important hands-on training regardless of weather conditions.

Kwamesha Milsap Selected for Wisconsin Technical College System District Ambassador Program

Blackhawk Technical College is pleased to announce Kwamesha Milsap has been selected to participate in the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) District Ambassador program. The program selects one student from each of the state’s 16 technical college districts to act as advocates for vocational and technical education. Students serve a one-year term and are called upon to make special appearances, give presentations and participate in various events on behalf of the WTCS. District Ambassadors from across the state will be honored on April 25 in Wisconsin Dells.
