Blackhawk Launches BTC Student Cupboard

Blackhawk Technical College, in partnership with Caritas and Second Harvest Food Bank, launched the BTC Student Cupboard on Oct. 3, 2018. The Cupboard provides supplemental food and other necessities for BTC students and their families who are in need. For its opening, the Cupboard has received 19 applications for services.

Governor Walker Highlights Youth, Registered Apprenticeship Programs at Event with Milwaukee Public Schools, Harley-Davidson

Governor Scott Walker today highlighted the importance of Youth Apprenticeship and Registered Apprenticeship as workforce development tools during an event at Harley-Davidson University. He was joined by Harley-Davidson executives, representatives from the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) and Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), and leadership from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD).

Web Development Students Selected for gBETA Beloit

Web Development students Bryan Williams, Josh Shope and Sarah Meadus have been selected to participate in the gBETA Beloit Startup Accelerator Program. gBETA is a program of nationally ranked startup accelerator, gener8tor. The program is a free seven-week concierge program for early-stage companies with local roots, and limited to five companies per cohort.

Early Childhood Student Finds Balance and Success at BTC

Balancing a campus job with being a full-time student seems to be the norm for many college students today. The norm for Blackhawk Technical College (BTC) student Noel Jones also includes volunteering and raising her five children between the ages of 2 and 10. Jones entered BTC’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) program in August 2017 and plans to graduate in May 2019.

More than 1100 Students to Experience 2018 Manufacturing Days

Blackhawk Technical College (BTC) will celebrate Manufacturing Days, on October 4 and 5, 2018. The event is part of a national effort to inspire students to pursue careers in manufacturing. In addition, Manufacturing Days aim to change perceptions about today’s manufacturing environment. BTC is collaborating with economic and workforce development partners, area school districts, and over 30 employers in Rock and Green Counties on this year’s event. Curriculum for the event has been provided by the School District of Janesville.
