David Hataj Named BTC 2018 Distinguished Alumni

The Blackhawk Technical College District Board is delighted to honor David Hataj with the 2018 Distinguished Alumni Award. Hataj is a graduate of the Machinist Apprenticeship program and current president and co-owner of Edgerton Gear, Inc. Hataj is an outstanding advocate for technical education. He has offered scholarships to high school students and has invested significant time, energy and resources into a variety of initiatives tied to the expansion of technical education.

Student Finds Her Voice in the Human Services Program

Daughter of first-generation Americans, Maria Mendoza, longs to help foster children and plans to accomplish that with a degree in Human Services from Blackhawk Technical College.  Mendoza, quiet at first, quickly warms up when speaking of her time at Brodhead High School where she graduated in 2018. After moments, one can easily see her high regard for her hard-working, loving family and her tight-knit, close community in Green County.

Parker Nursing Scholars Launched at BTC

Blackhawk Technical College, in partnership with the Parker Family Foundation, recently launched the Nancy B. Parker Nursing Scholars Program, a scholarship to help retain skilled nurses in Rock and Green Counties. The program targets high-achieving students who have been admitted into the BTC nursing program. The goal is to improve nursing student recruitment and retention as well as to fill anticipated nursing shortages in Green and Rock Counties by retaining top talent in our communities. First-year students can be eligible for a $1,000 maximum award with an opportunity for an additional $1,500 in year two.
