Prent/GOEX Partners with Blackhawk for Their Workforce and Training Needs

The Workforce and Community Development (WCD) Division at Blackhawk Technical College provides workforce solutions and training to support the needs of business and industry in the region. These training partnerships are vital to the local workforce, providing essential technical and leadership skills for employees at all levels of an organization. Recently, Prent/GOEX experienced this firsthand when their employees completed the Blackhawk Technical College Leadership Development series.

Volunteering: A Family Affair at Beckman Mill

Volunteering at Beckman Mill is a family affair for recent Blackhawk Technical College Radiography graduate, Melissa Castro. Since she was a child, she has accompanied her grandparents, Sheri and Jim Disrud, to serve at the Mill. There are no paid positions within the Beckman Mill community. Therefore, the Mill is dependent on volunteers for the maintenance and upkeep of the buildings and grounds. So, when the Medical Imaging Student Organization was deciding on a community service project, this was the perfect match.

Jeff Kropp, Department Chair of the Business and General Education Division at Blackhawk Technical College, has been named the Beloit Rotary Educator of the Month. The Beloit Rotary recognized Kropp at their monthly meeting on May 21. Kropp was honored for his commitment to student success.

Funds Help Finance Equipment, Tools and Clothing to Help Apprentices Succeed

Thirteen Blackhawk Technical College construction and industrial trades’ apprentices have each received $1,500 scholarships from Ascendium Education Group (formerly Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation & Affiliates). The Tools of the Trade Apprentice Scholarship program helps apprentices with financial need complete their programs and advance to in-demand jobs.
